Jennifer Yarber is a dynamic, consummate professional with over seven years pf experience managing communications and public relations initiatives. Exceptionally skilled at strategic plan development, building media relations, simplifying high-level information for distribution and innovative social media marketing, she is particularly fond of building organization/audience relationships through storytelling and personal connections.
Jennifer is the Director of the Georgia State Senate Press Office, where she is the acting press secretary for Senate leadership, including the President Pro Tempore, Majority Leader and Rules Chairman. Her main duties include drafting speeches, talking points, press releases/advisories and video scripts regarding proposed and current Georgia legislation and events. In addition, Jennifer directs the management of four full-time staff members and all office aides and interns.
During her time as the Director of Communications at the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Jennifer managed the production of a bi-monthly print magazine, bi-weekly e-newsletter, social media publishing and was a contributor to the organization's annual report, marketing materials and legislative information. Jennifer was also as a media liaison for press, TV and radio opportunities. Her work fostered member awareness of business-impacting legislation at the state and federal levels, protected the brand of the Georgia Chamber, and connected members to other business and legislative leaders.
As the first-ever Communications Manager for the regional Construction Suppliers Association, Jennifer secured the regional trade association’s marketing viability through the development of a strategic communications plan and budget. Her exclusive management of the organization's re-brand efforts, including a new logo, website, all print work and marketing materials, raised the value and appearance of the trade association to both members and industry counterparts. The development of a three-tier investment program not only added membership value, but ultimately increased the number of associate members.
Jennifer is a graduate of Kennesaw State University (M.A. Professional Writing) and The University of Iowa (B.A. English).
Outside of work, Jennifer serves on the board of the University of Iowa Atlanta Alumni Club and enjoys running, boating, attending concerts, traveling and spending time with her husband and two Shih-Tzus. She is also former co-chair of B1GFest, a school spirit event for Atlanta alumni of Big Ten conference schools that attracted over 1200+ attendees and raised more than $17,000 in 2012 for YES!Atlanta.
